St. John the Baptist Parish School Board

In just three short years, we have elevated our status as a school system to a “B” rating in the latest Louisiana Department of Education rankings. With 81% of our students classified as economically disadvantaged, we have set and held students and our employees to high standards. We are the only system that has earned a “B” rating with at least 81% of its students categorized as such., Working with our local public and private school systems along with neighboring parish’s our workforce stands ready to face the challenge of both current and future work force needs.

The Port of South Louisiana

As America’s largest tonnage Port district, the Port of South Louisiana is the premier sea gateway for U.S. export and import traffic… Governed by a board of seven Commissioners, the Port of South Louisiana, which stretches 54 miles along the Mississippi River, is the largest tonnage port district in the western hemisphere.

South Central Louisiana Technical College, Reserve Campus

SCL Reserve Campus is one of several technical colleges created by Act 208 of the 1973 Louisiana Legislature.  This school serves citizens of St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, and St. James Parishes who are seeking the opportunity to participate in the “World of Work.” Workforce training is changing rapidly, paced by technological changes.  The business community depends on technical colleges to provide human resources equipped with the skills and knowledge required by employees in the areas of communications, computer, and applied academic skills.

South Central Planning and Development Commission

South Central Planning and Development CommissionThe SCPDC’s Economic Development Department works with organizations such as US Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Delta Regional Authority (DRA’s) as well as with municipalities, Parishes and community groups to provide assistance for disaster recovery, business financing and entrepreneurial trainings to small businesses in Louisiana.

River Region Chamber of Commerce– Serving as the voice of all member businesses and partners, the River Region Chamber of Commerce is unparalleled in its efforts to improve the communities of St. James, St. John and St. Charles parishes. The Chamber is an independent and autonomous organization dedicated to the interests of promoting a positive business climate for the Region.

The River Parishes Tourist Commission

The River Parishes Tourist Commission is the official marketing organization for New Orleans Plantation Country and is the driving force behind tourism to the area. A non-profit organization representing St. Charles, St. James and St. John Parishes, the commission offers assistance to visitors, advocacy to its stakeholders, and helps stimulate the region’s economic growth by promoting New Orleans Plantation Country as a premier travel destination.
